Who put this here?

The work on the new Town Centre Metro stop has been underway for about 3 months.
Part of the design is for a new road and footpath to the side of the stop to be built.

Metrolink and their contractors had time and a blank canvass to design and produce this wholly new section of the new line. Finally last week it was ready for local residents to use.

However as Councillor Kieran Quinn said "I couldn’t believe my eyes when this new road and path was opened to see someone had put a street lamp right in the middle of the path. This means that anyone in a motorised buggy or a parent with a pram cannot use this new path."

“This is absolute madness and considering the impact the road works are having on the Town it does raise questions about the quality and standard of the completed line.

Your Councillors have demanded that this is rectified immediately but believe this should never have happened in the first place.

Droylsden East Councillor Kieran Quinn is the new Leader of Tameside Council

Sunday 3 October 2010

Popular Labour team member - Cllr Kieran Quinn - became Tameside’s new Leader following the May elections. Kieran has pledged to keep working for local people and continue to get things done for Droylsden.

As Cllr Quinn said “The only reason I was able to be chosen as the Leader of Tameside Council was because the voters in Droylsden put their faith in me, electing me on 4 occasions to represent this town.
No matter what the future brings I will continue to work closely with my community helping Droylsden prosper."
